Oy… I’m no good at being sad.
Actually, having written that maybe it’s that I’m really good at being sad in away, almost too good. My feelings and conscious are so sensitive, that I absorb a lot and am really hard on myself. I’m just no good at it because I’m just such a naturally happy and positive person… but I guess that’s a good thing.
I dunno, I just have a lot on my mind, but I know it’s not the end of the world. And since I’d rather not go more into what it is that’s going on…. I’m going to just tell you some things that are making me smile today.
#1 is all the love and support and TLC I get. The comments a few of you posted are totally like a warm hug. Honestly even though I’ve never even met some of you – it’s just so nice to connect with other humans out there that can relate that life is so frickin tough sometimes. We all have our battles. And I am a firm believer in having a positive attitude… but sometimes it can be really hard to put any sunshine on the quagmire. Anyway.. thank you for all your good vibes – keep em comin! Right now it feels like luck and chance are the only saving grace… so let’s tip the scales with our positive thoughts!!
#2 is being so thankful for these 2 women I have bi-monthly business chats with. Having them there to talk about my business and my artistic goals is like a good syrup on a stack of warm pancakes!! (work with me on that one, I just felt like writing it, so I did – so there!!) But truly – it’s inspiring and wonderful and supportive and it never fails I get off the phone just so happy to have 2 others to consult with on challenges and hear their advice, etc. Big X’s & O’s to Robin & Beth.
#3 – I have HUGE exciting news. News that is really really huge and something we’ve all been talkin about on here for a couple weeks now… are you ready?
This puppy is arriving on my doorstep soon:

I’m FREAKING OUT!!! Talk about a little retail therapy… when it feels like the world is coming to an end & you’re beside yourself with grief and stress… Buy yourself something fantastic!
I’m taking the leap and going mac. I can’t believe it. (GULP)
p.s. A HUGE HUGE HUGE thanks to the darling person who scored me a discount on this. I am sooo grateful to have saved a teeny bit of money on such an expensive purchase. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! And Kazoo (your little buddy) thanks you, too. He’ll be so excited to play in the box it comes in! :p
I have had a few things lately that have made my heart just feel like it’s going to crush under the weight of it all. Life can seem so hard sometimes… it just doesn’t seem fair.
As humans we’re faced with so many challenges. It’s a rollercoaster of joy and pain no matter who you are. Rich or poor, healthy or ill.
But sometimes the pain feels so strong, I wonder if I have the strength to make it another day. The stress of feeling so out of control in a situation – and the anger and frustration that goes with it… it’s unbearable.
Bad news of any kind can put things into perspective so quickly and you start counting the blessings that you do have.
I’m trying to think positive… I just hope this pit in the bottom of my stomach goes away soon.
:::::::::
I know this sounds really meager… and I know a lot of you will be concerned. Please just know I had to just get it out. And I just ask that you think positive thoughts in general. God knows there’s a lot of people out there (not just me) that could use to feel them coming their way.
Lastnight was great… Rick came over for dinner & we whipped together a little mini feast that was quite tasty. It’s so fun to have friends over, cook and listen to music, etc. As you can imagine, no matter what we’re doing, we have a great soundtrack for it. :)
We headed over to Jem & Tania’s (who live on Wood St, should you be wondering about the name of the party :) It was the first time seeing their place, and it turned out to be a kickin party! Jem’s cousin, Lan, (one of 254 cousins Jem has in this city… jeez! every other person we met lastnight was a cousin!!) also lives with them and it was great to finally meet her. Later in the night Lan even revealed she knows my friend Darren! No way! Ah yes, the degrees always connect… we live in such a small town really.
I was drinkin the hard stuff: H2O – woohoo!! paaartaaay!!
ANYTHING to be done with this cold. The hilarious thing was that I was so hopped up on DayQuil, I felt like I was on drugs! I mean, I was – but you know what I mean. I was wide eyed & alert and talkative. Hmm, maybe that’s me all the time? Anyway, the good news is that I had fun w/o drinking (no way! I know, I know!) and I could actually call myself the designated driver! As you can tell, this is all knew to me :p
So ya, the party was kickin – we got to meet lots of their friends, some ex’s and even some celebrities! We had a Halle Berry and Justin Timberlake siting!
Check out the photos (warning, the site I use to host my photos seems really slow for me tonite, is it for you? If so come back & check em out later.)

Today was another glorious sunny day here in SF!! I’m feeling sooo much better, but it didn’t stop me from still going through my morning hack up a lung ritual that I’m so good at now from doing it for 2 f*ing weeks!! However it truly was a better hack session than it’s been before – so I’m on the mend!!
I felt so great I even talked my workout buddy into hittin the gym with me! aww yaa!! We did arms and abs – and I know I’m gonna feel it tomorrow for sure. (which is exciting)
And as crazy as it sounds, I’m really excited to go do cardio tomorrow. But the secret is, is that if I go I get to read more of my book!!
Now it’s Sunday night – and I’m feelin like I should get some work done since I really didn’t do any yesterday… but I also wish I was going out to dinner. It’s just almost too nice outside to be indoors! I’m so excited that summer is coming.
2 weeks ago I posted photos of my 2 new sprouts… and look at them now!

My dreams have been full of dangerous escapes lately (probably due to the book I’m reading)… but oddly enough almost every one of my dreams have been full of people I went to High School with.
Coincidentally, I was downtown meeting a friend for lunch yesterday and I saw Andy Wilder from High School, crossing the street. At the time I was on the phone w/ my brother, Max, too – who knows this person as well – so it was funny to stop him, say hi and say “guess who I’ve got on the phone!?”.
Then, shortly after I got home yesterday I received an email from an old friend. Actually, more appropriately an ex-boyfriend from my Freshman year, who took me to my first prom! Boy I wish I had those photos around to show you – they’re so funny. Dan & I shared, what he recalled in his email: puppy love. I think he was the first person that I thought I was in love with. He made me one of those hippy clay necklaces and made me mix tapes with Led Zepplin and The Grateful Dead.
Dan was a senior and I was a freshman and we had some really good times together… one being prom night where some serious partyin went down. All his friends had rented a condo, and a few highlights of the night (that I can remember) were people snorting tequila through a $20 bill (ouch, right? ha!), Dan jumping off the 2nd story to the first story hot tub in his tux (I actually don’t remember this, but that’s what he emailed sayin he remembered), and someone driving us blocks away from my house to get me home “at a reasonable time”… which by that time I think we were way past anyway! I ended up waking up at the crack of dawn and walking back to my house and slipping into bed just praying my parents didn’t notice I never made it home for my 1am curfew.
Next thing I knew it was around 1pm and my parents were knocking on my bedroom door… Apparently Dan had come by with flowers to apologize for getting me home so late :) Which probably saved me from getting grounded!
Anyway, it was nice to hear from an old friend. Now can the rest of you High School peeps stay outta all my dreams already!! :p
Oh I can’t tell you how pleased I am that I woke up to the sun shining so warm & bright this morning. It’s about time!!
The first thing I did after getting up – was to step out on my deck, my kitty eagerly following, and checked the temperature. Just perfect.
Letting the sun’s rays beat down that good ol’ Vitamin D, I just spent the first couple hours of my day, laying out on my deck and reading over 250 some pages of The Da Vinci Code (that I can’t put down!).
I actually broke a sweat it was so nice & warm in the sun! Dreamy!! I hope you’re somewhere enjoying sunshine today.
So lastnight Rick didn’t have his guitar lesson after all, so I went & picked him up a little early and we decided to hit Chow for dinner before the show. If you don’t live in SF, I’ll tell you now, Chow (near the Castro) and Park Chow (out by GG Park) are AWESOME restaurants. I was craving some yummy salmon and mashed potatoes (possibly my favorite. dish. ever.) and Rick had never even been (gasp!) so it was perfect.
We ran into some friends of his there which was cool. These 4 cutie girls who were his ex-roomates (1 was, the rest were basically roomates cuz they were her friends & there all the time) and are still party buddies that we’re gonna match up & hit Coachella with in May. woohoo!! I’m looking forward to that!
OK so, we eat (my dinner was *yumm* and Rick had these pork chops that were MELT in your mouth yumm), but after parking & waiting we were running a little late for the show, but luckily we cruised into the BoTH just in time before The Husbands went on. phew!
The Husbands were really fun to see live… totally rough sound, I liked it. Only one guitar, played by the lead singer who has this really funky voice & kinda yells and it was good fun. They’ve got a little of that 50’s/60’s girls band w/ a tough garage edge goin on… and they all wore funky fancy party dresses that looked great with their normal shoes & tatoos and the lead singer girl’s missing tooth. (WT is cooL! ha!) They had some fun drum beats. Not only a drummer, but a big ol’ drum up front that just made the beats stronger as the back up singers oohed & aahed. Good fun.
Comets on Fire went on next & didn’t do it for us at all… they were loud, which is fine & good ‘n all.. but a little too psychadelic for us. So we actually waited it out but near the end of their set we decided to just call it a night and left before Dead Moon came on. Between my cold and Rick getting no sleep the night before, we were wiped out. (wah, I know) It’s not like us… but oh well… we really just bought the tix to see The Husbands play anyway, which was fuN!
::::::::::
I decided to not go down to see my bro today after all. I had an appt this afternoon that woulda kicked me straight into rush hour traffic on the way down there – not good! Plus, it will be better when I’m not hacking and sniffly and stuff.
Tonite: Movie night
If you’re looking for something to do tomorrow night, and you’re not invited to my super cool friend’s housewarming party – then you should go to this show at Cafe Du Nord for me:
Stars w/ The Dears & Rogue Wave.
I saw Stars (sfstation review) open for Broken Social Scene last year (my review) and loved them. I said it once and I’ll say it again – Amy Millan has a beautiful voice!!
I haven’t heard of The Dears, but they’re Canadian… and they’re playing with 2 other great bands. I mean, really – you can’t go wrong there, can ya?
And then of course my boooyyyzzz (and cutie Sonya girrrl) Rogue Wave are opening too! Go rock and dance and hoot & holler like I would for them, would you please?! :)
So ya, I’d go – but I have a big important housewarming party to go to that I wouldn’t miss for the world. Well, that – and I’m probably not going to drink and going to come home early from that anyway so I get better!
So go for me, k? It’ll be a great show – you’ll like it – I promise!
