sketchbooks

I’m workin on this illustration for a friend and it’s had me picking up my sketchbook a bit more often lately. (yay!)

Sometimes looking back through my random doodles, I see ones that just crack me up. Doodles are random, kinda like stream of conciousness writing… it’s whatever’s on your mind, or wherever your doodling takes you.

I plan to scan more in – but this one kinda cracks me up for some reason. It’s kinda like 3 guys who work together… and the one guy’s giving the point & chk chk Go Team.

All of my characters just kinda look up at me and talk to me. hahaa. Here’s another one I love:

copy image location

I often want to get the actual URL of an image… and instead of having to right click on the photo, go to properties & then copy the text in the image location (lengthy!) I have been wanting to have the ease of copying the URL by selecting that in my right click menu.

I’m sure some of you are familiar, cuz I think Mozilla & Safari have this built in – and that’s where I’d seen it before – So handy! But I use Internet Explorer all the time – so I decided to go searching for a solution tonite and whattya know someone made it! yahoo!

Andy Smith made what I was looking for! Maybe you want this too? :)

I installed it & am very happy now.

Are your seatbelts securely fastened?

Stewardess night was a HIT! Michelle & Brigette picked me up & we met up with all the rest of the girls at Delirium. One by one the girls arrived… straight off a flight and ready to party! It was Jane, Hillary, Alana, Erica, Michelle, Molly, Lucia, Kat and I.

The cool thing was is that between all our “uniforms”, we had spanned the decades! Molly & Jane were our 60’s girls… They looked fantastic! I was so jealous of their tall white boots! I was the 70’s with my bright polyester blue dress and hot pink scarf, and the other girls were more 80’s & 90’s – with Michelle and Erica looking impressively just like current day flight attendants.

Oh! And no group of stewardesses is complete without our passenger safety cards, barf bags and wings! Represent!!

Everyone in the bars loved it – we had people coming up to us sayin that everyone was talking about us to eachother “Have you seen the stewardesses yet?!”

And many actually thought we were real! Our story was that we had all had our training together and now work for seperate airlines… but we all just happened to touch down in San Francisco tonite for one night! They wanted to believe. It was beautiful, really.

We left Delirium and headed over to Casanova Lounge where we made a grand entrance – all 9 of us marching in “marking the exits” and demonstrating how to follow along with the passenger safety cards. A girl at the bar was loving every bit of it and had the funniest laugh that was cracking me up… and by the end of the night her friend even bought us drinks since we’d been “so entertaining” :) ha!

Around 12:30 we met up with Jee and finished off the night at our old standby, the LAC and by that time we were having sooo much fun.

We all can’t wait to do it again!!

Michelle, Jane, Molly, Hillary, Lucia and Willo

More photos will be posted soon… !

coffee, tea or me?

Tonite is girls night out.. and it’s not just any girls night out. We’ve got a theme: Stewardesses

Yup, that’s right… about 10 of us ladies will be hittin the town, dressed to fly the friendly skies. Prepared to make your traveling experience as enjoyable and comfortable as possible. Making sure drinks are filled and everyone has their very own bag of salty nuts in hand. And most importantly, service with a smile… :)

I am really looking forward to it.

lap kitty

I’m trying to make Kazoo a lap kitty. Believe it or not, he’s not much of one currently. He’s more of chest kitty (when I’m lying in bed or on the couch) or a shoulder kitty (probably his *favorite* place to be) Or, what he’s picked up in the last couple months, is his “sit directly in front of me all day, between me and the keyboard” kind of kitty. That’s pretty cute actually. I can tell he loves being close to me so much that sometimes I think he even dozes off sitting up. Or else he’ll put his head down so that my lips rest on his forehead and we stay that way for a couple minutes. Or he’ll just plop right down where he’s been sitting, usually on one of my arms which makes it really hard to type or use the mouse!

He’s tried to be a lap kitty a couple times, I think… but because his fur is so slippery soft and maybe my lap is too narrow (it’s really not actually, there is *plenty* of room on these thighs!), he’s always found it hard to keep his balance and therefore deems it uncomfortable.

So, I thought I’d start show him how nice and easy it is to sit on my lap afterall! And the other night it seemed to work for awhile. And the cutest thing was that he had to have – not just his paws on my arm – but 2 paws and a foot!! He’s a part of this whole computing thing, dangit. If I type, he’s helping! Isn’t that cute?

new mixing bowls

Today I used one of my new mixing bowls my Momma got me for Christmas. And since I know you all have probably just been dying to know what I’ve been eating for lunch everyday, this post conveniently acts as a remedy for that, too! :p

I made a delicious salad today. Ingredients: Mixed greens, fresh tomato, green bell pepper, mushrooms, shredded cheddar cheese, turkey bacon and salt & pepper. Oh ya, and with some blue cheese dressing on top. yumm!!

Well, the best part was that I had a big mixing bowl to put it in, and better yet, the rest is stored in the fridge in that pretty bowl instead of tupperware! yay!

The first bowl I used out of these 3, however, was the small one on the very right. The other night I popped kettle korn popcorn and put it in there. yumm!

this post is minty fresh

I can’t stop eating the yummy new Altoids Apple Sours!! YUMMM!!!!

I started with the Tangerine Sours, which are also quite delicious. And then I tried the lemon ones, which are good – but IMO not as good as the Tangerine.

And then I happened to go to their site the other day (very well designed, btw) and saw that they had Apple! I couldn’t wait to try em. Luckily I spotted them at the store lastnight, so I picked some up…. and I can’t stop eating them!! They’re really yummy!! :)

Other favorites in the candy/mint department:

  • SMINT Mints: only the Peach & Fresh Mint flavors. Remember their ads in the beginning? “No Smint, No Kiss” :)
  • CERTS Powerful Mints: The slim case is easy to stick in your back pocket at shows :)

And the gum department:

I’m a big fan of cinnamon gum… my Mom always was, too – I wonder if that’s where I got it from? Well, forever I’ve been in love with Arm & Hammer’s but recently it’s been a little harder to find – which is so annoying when you find a product you really like! So recently I found Orbit’s Cinnamon gum and it’s really good, too!

What’s your favorite?

TED LEO show!! 1/28/04

Hey all – sorry I have been traveling and workin and all kinds of stuff… but let me just say that last weeks (1/28/04) Ted Leo show ROCKED!!!

It’s my first favorite show of the year!!!

The Yellow Press and Fiery Furnaces opened and they were both fantastic IMO. We pulled up outside while the Yellow Press were playin and we couldn’t wait to get in it sounded so rockin. The lead(s) had some great energy and they are really fun on stage.. definitely check em out!

Fiery Furnaces was great – the lead singer is this chic that honestly had me mesmerized. One of those where you are rockin and smiling on the inside, but after a couple songs I realized I hadn’t actually been moving – I was just staring. Her voice is different and she kinda oozes “I don’t give a shit, but I don’t think I’m that cool I’m just up here to play some good music”. Which they did! We were into it – so into it we actually bought CD’s for both the openers (something we RARELY do!!) Listening to them both has been just as enjoyable as the show & I’m lookin forward to catching them again.

The Fiery Furnaces actually have a song on this month’s Heavy compilation – any of you subscribe to that? If not, check it out.

Ted Leo came on & played a few songs solo to start out the set – which was cool! It was so awesome to see and hear him live & in person… He was FANTASTIC LIVE!!! Completely better than I could have hoped to be honest with you.

See, I had loaded my MP3 player with a bunch of Hearts of Oak MP3’s last summer and went hiking almost everyday up the hill behind my house, rockin & walkin to Ted Leo & The Pharmacists… and then a couple months ago got Tell Balgeary… and so to see him play and sing his heart out on stage just absolutely frickin ROCKED!!!!!!!

By the end of the set he was DRENCHED and it seemed like they all had a great time up there. The bass player to his right was, as my friend calls him: A mini Stroke.. he had all this curly hair and a ‘chill, I’m so cool’ look. One so cool that my other friend thought he was all coked up, but I just think he is mellow and takin it all in. I liked it – I get sick of the bass players tryin to get all the attention and goin nuts up there. Well that’s not true – sometimes that’s fun – so just think of the ones that aren’t fun and they’re annoyingly obnoxious, that’s when I don’t like it. Anyway – the drummer was great too!!!

Overall just a EXCELLENT EXCELLENT show. One that I didn’t want to end. ever. but it did.

We headed down to SD the next day – and we were {this close} to going to their show at the Casbah for a double header of the TL.

Really great show.

Love,

your enthusiastic show reviewer girl

p.s. I do have a couple photos of the show here…. I’ll publish the rest of my SD photos at some point too.
