grandaddy

I caught up on some of the shows I have on my TIVO, but then stopped The Real World to watch this funny MTV thing. I think I’m an MTV junkie… but I don’t like Carson Daily, so that’s gotta count for something!

Anyway – tonite I finally watched a show I had recorded weeks ago: Grandaddy playing on Letterman. I would like to point out that in my efforts to go to bed early, TIVO came to the rescue. (now if we could only get paid to evangelize it!)

It was cool to see them play live and it made me appreciate the drums in the band. (I wish I was a drummer) I have Drummer EnvyTM.

Kazoo would like to point out that Jason Lytle’s hat had kitties on it.

DIY fever

I am having a strong desire to build things lately. Namely wood things… like farm benches and stools. I’ve been wanting a picnic table out on my deck really bad. But just one that seats 4 – nothing too long. I started looking for DIY plans online tonite and found this one. How cool that it converts from 2 benches to a picnic table!

Anyone have a table saw?

Girls Weekend reunites!

“Chicas en la Ciudad” commences this evening! We’ve been planning it for months – the yearly Girls Weekend event that my friend Colleen has been putting on for years now. Last year we all went camping (26 girls!!) and it was such a blast!

I’m really excited to reunite with these girls, most of which I haven’t seen in a year! We start at a mexican restaurant for dinner and margaritas and then the bus takes us around to several different bars where we drink tequila and dance the night away!! woohoo!!

Luckily at 4 I have a Salsa dancing date with Stig (filling in for his sister who he’s taking the class with). So I’ll be brushed up on my salsa dancing a bit for this evenings fiesta. So exciting!

happy hour butterfly

I’ve been called a social butterfly 3 times by three separate people this week. ya think? :p Last night I couldn’t help but be one at Zeitgeist, where I knew 3 different sets of people!

I went to pick up Sarah and Jane, but soon found out Jee and Jane scored Björk tickets at the last minute.

Sarah and I arrived fashionably late, all to find my friend Matt already at the bar… and the rounds of pitchers began. Stig, Rachel and Jillian showed up a little after that. And then Robert, Wes & Rebecca, too! (whom I know through Jee)

Lastly, Captain showed up with some friends – and even though I somehow fanned the least amount of my social butterfly-ness on him, it was cool to see him again.

By 10:30 or so I started drinking water while everyone was still doing shots and getting lit around me. By midnight I was left with only two (darling) friends of Matt’s, and I was ready to go home. After all, I have to get ready for The Mexican Bus tonite!!

showing off

Since I may never have the opportunity to show off a home of this magnitude, of my own or in this case my parents beautiful home, ever again – I just have to show you the beautiful photos of this amazing house I’ve called [going] home for the last couple years. I highly recommend the virtual tour.

My Mom so graciously hosted me, my friend Drew and Edna & Barry last weekend. It’s always a treat to stay there, as it’s not only full of the love of my family and my Mom’s delicious home cooking, but it’s quite the treat to be in such a spacious, lovely home. My mom is sad they’re selling it. They built it & picked every little thing out. It’s actually gone down in price drastically… I think they started it at 2.2M, but times they are a changing and they want to sell this to invest in other things. They’re smart with their money – I could use to pick up a few tips, I suppose.

I feel bad or weird (for some reason) showing this off – but I’m very proud of them, and love this house. I’ll miss it too.

Search WilloToons.com!

Check it out! I added a search function! woohoo!

Big thanks to Eric!

This Atomz search deal kicks so much ass! I was bummed it wasn’t linking the search results directly to the related archived blog post. But now I’m psyched cuz I found how to change the template to now hop to the closest anchor tag – woohoo!! I love stuff I can customize. RAWK!!!!

Macromedia’s Contribute: Flash Paper test

I just did a test on Macromedia’s Contribute new feature, Flash Paper. They talked about it at the SFMMUF meeting I went to the other night.

Today I actually had a reason to test it out, as the youth I’m working with doesn’t have Powerpoint, so this was a great way to show her the powerpoint file using the free Flash plug-in she already has on her computer.

One concern people have voiced about converting a large “for print” file to Flash, is file size. I’m happy to report this conversion took a 11MB file and made it 1MB. cool! I myself was concerned it would garf the images in the file… but it’s surprisingly not too bad!

Here’s the Flash Paper test page.

friday morning music

OK… You have GOT to check out David Hopkins. I have been listening to his new CD, One Dark Morning (yet to be released, but I’ve got my connections ;) for about a week now and I love it!! This man is soooo talented.

He (if I must compare) reminds me of a mixture between Wilco, Elliot Smith, and maybe David Gray or Grandaddy (?) Very hard to compare as honestly he’s got a sound of all his own. Like any good CD, David has layed down 12 tracks all of which have their own beautiful unique feel and sound… (I hate CD’s that sound the same the whole way through). David has a strong style, an amazing voice and beautiful lyrics. I wish so bad you could buy the CD right now off of his site… but it’s not released yet. You can however download his new single there (ironically not even on the sneaky release CD I have my hands on… hmmm)

My favorites were #5 and #6 but as I went through the tracks this morning I was realizing I have about 3 more favorites. It’s that good! Release your CD ASAP David so we can all go buy it!!

He is playing at Cafe du Nord in September, so go check him out!
