Even though I was partyin into the wee hours on Saturday night, I still managed to rally myself (and Ryan) to the Futureheads show Sunday night w/ Ted & Misty.

The French Kicks were the openers, and just like the last couple times I’ve seen them, they were boring and simply don’t impress me live at all. I’ll stick to listening to them on CD, because I do like them… just not live! The Futureheads on the other hand were great, as always! I love them. I managed to even stay standing long enough to make it through the encore, but I attribute that completely to the fact that it was such a great show! Big thanks to Ted for the tix & to Ryan for rallying last minute! xo

There are SO many funny little things that happened, man – what a night! I’ll post more about it all soon, along with my photos, but as of right now there’s already two albums up… oh no! Documentation of the debauchery!! :p

This one above is a small peek into it. The handsome devil on the right is my new boyfriend – who I’ve named “Puppet” (but you have to say it in a british accent). My friend Kristin *made* him!!! I’m SO IN LOVE WITH HIM! :) yay!! So ya, I think there’s more than a few photos and even some video of me making out with him. hahaha!

Such good times… I don’t even remember saying goodbye to most people, but think it’s safe to say the party was rockin till at least 4:30 in the morning… and we even had a little surprise visitor at like 5am, a friend of mine who was here earlier and who had left & came back still ready to party! haa! Oh man, seriously… this party was sooo fun! Yay – thanks again, everyone! My friends rule!! xoxoxoxoxo

birthday wish list

Now I’m not saying you have to get me anything – seriously! I totally take hugs & kisses, too. ;)

But, as I’ve ranted before, I believe in wishlists. Plus, if you’re anything like me, I love to buy a gift for someone that they really want or need! So without further sticking-my-foot-in-my-mouth adieu, here’s what I’m wishing for this year:

  • Flickr Pro acct for me. UPDATE: Yay!!! my sweet sho ho pro sistaaa Ali just got this for me! aww!! SO appropriate that she did considering she’s in 99% of them! :p yay!! Thanks shugs!!
  • Some kind of laptop cooling thing for when it’s sitting on my desk working like a horse 14 hours/day. Like these legs, or the Coolpad or the iBreeze or the iCurve. How’s that for choices? haha. Feel free to comment if you know one is better over the other.
  • This laptop bag. But I also really want this one – in the “Motel” style, but it doesn’t have a strap or handle, it’s just a sleeve, and I need even a small little handle. Oooh hey look! This site has all of them… and offers gift certificates. *wink, wink*
  • Gift certificate for Gallery of Jewels. I can always find something here!
  • Gin or tequila.
  • TREO :) hehee. hey, it’s a wishlist!
  • Gosh. I can’t really think of anything else! See? I don’t need much! haha. :)

Seriously I don’t expect to get any of these, but it’s just that people ask me, and I’m like ‘gawd, I have no idea!’, so I thought I’d see if I could come up with a few. It’s all stuff I want to buy myself and probably will buy eventually. Like new glasses, or some pretty jewelry, or a shopping spree (aka small gift certificate) to designpublic or etsy or some place local like FLAX, apple store, best buy, ikea, old navy or target or something.

Ok, I’m done! :p

Update… I thought of more. haha. Again, mostly for my own “what I want to buy for myself” list…

  • portable storage drive, like a 1GB USB 2.0. OMG look at how funny this one is!
  • a new TiVo – the dual tuner tivo series 2

  • my own home. :) I want own so bad & am looking into it, but am not sure how possible it will be at this point. we’ll see!

I got the new SD700!! yay!!!

OMG! My Mom is the *BEST*!!! I got a package from Amazon this morning and holy cow! It’s the new Canon Elph SD700 I’ve been wanting! YAY!!!!!! My Momma is soooo sweet!! I had told her I wanted this, but it’s so much I told her I’d happily accept even a small donation towards it, but woweeeee! What a fun surprise!!!

nothing like waking up to an earthquake!

Around 5:30 this morning I got that familiar, but nerve-wracking, sensation of my entire bed shaking. Waking up from a dead sleep for a second it really feels like someone’s trying to shake you awake – or that someone, or some thing, just jumped on your bed. Then you start to hear the things on your shelves clattering & your mind instantly knows: Earthquake!

I shot straight up in bed, because honestly, if shit does go flying, I want to see it! haha. After it rolled through, I remained sitting up in bed, watching my kitty and listening closely just in case it was only a teaser for another one. Thankfully, it wasn’t. phew! I got up, went to the bathroom, and then crawled back in bed. zzzzzz.

I am on a list that emails me when quakes happen near here & so, of course, I woke up to one waiting for me this morning. Here are the basic details of this morning’s earthquake:

Magnitude: 4.67 ML (A light quake)

tuesday is the new friday.

or maybe it’s the new Thursday, considering I stay home a lot of Friday nights after going to shows a couple other nights over the course of a week? Yikes, that last sentence hurts my head. So anyway – Tuesday, ya know? Tuesday RULES! :p

It all started like most any other Tuesday: we have a kick ass show to hit. The Walkmen @ GAMH. aww yaaa. This time, double the k.a. cuz it’s our boyfriend Hamilton! *sigh* we love him. And I couldn’t stop thinking dirty thoughts about him the entire time he was up there performing. yumm! Oh how I wished he would have joined us at the Hemlock afterwards. :) But I’m getting ahead of myself…

So, guess who was in town lastnight for “one night only”? (however, if we have anything to say about that – he’ll be staying for the weekend in order to be here for my birthday party!) Erik Benson! Erik is the funny boy whom I roomed with at SXSW and who also is the creative madman behind the Morale-o-Meter (that I’ve been posting to pretty regularly), AND he’s one of the silly scientists behind 43places/people/things! In short, it was none other than E.Benson in da houuuuse!

hahhaa… I just realized what I wrote there & cracked up on IM w/ Ali, but she insists I leave it there.

So Erik’s in town, and our rocktastic show ends and we cruise over to meet up with all the peeps at the Hemlock. At this point it’s me, Ryan, Ali, John, Erik, Jess, Buzz, Kristin & Michael, MJ, Brett, Michael Sharon (from NY who I met at SXSW!) and manlio (who graciously let me steal his camera for a bit since my flash is broken! photos to come are posted! thanks manlio!) and more! There were a lot of peeps there – so fun!

So anyway… we close down the Hemlock and Erik & I decide to crash at Ali’s, and on the way home we decide to get donuts at Bob’s! YUMM! I have a rule that I learned from my exbf Matt a long time ago, always go with whatever’s the freshest out of the oven (or actually the fryer, cuz they’re donuts!). To have it warm like that is soooo dreamy. Lucky me it was an apple fritter. Actually at the moment I didn’t care – cuz really, is there ever a bad donut? :)

After having some deliciousness I had to deal w/ where my car was parked for the night, and THANKFULLY my uber helpful friends Kristin & Michael took care of it for me – yay!! you guys rule! But then the funniest part is the drunken blogging that transpired when we got back to Ali’s. :) So I until more photos get posted, I will leave you with these:

Wednesday night I got my arse out of the house & hit the CAMHS/Bagel Radio show @ the Mezzanine.

I wasn’t that into the two opening bands, but it was great to see The Herms play, after getting to know a few of the band members better & listening to their new album over the last couple months.

I apologize in advance for uploading so many slightly similar photos, but it can be hard for me to decide between photos when they’re friends of mine. I guess I feel like I’d like to give them the opportunity to see each little nuance between the photos, as sometimes the lead singer looks better in one, but a better shot of the drummer in the next. Anyway, I’m sure I could delete a few but whatever… it’s my photo album & I can do what I want! :p
