cute stuff & geek stuff

OMG. This is SO CUTE: Kitten Mosh Pit

:::

In other awesome news, IllustrationFriday.com got a revamp – looks great Penelope!

Oh, and in geek news:

– I got my Powerbook back today! But I gotta say, Mario’s Mac Mini has been treating me pretty sweet this last week. It’s been luxurious to be on a machine that can keep up with me and not CHUG like my PB was there for the last month or so. Anyway, I’m backing up the mini tonite & will load it onto my PB tomorrow morning. Here’s hoping the new hard drive they put in will actually last me more than 2 months this time!

– I have been knee deep in this “all CSS layout” project. Today I really stuck by my guns & refused to ask for help & instead made myself wade through & figure it out (which took me hours!). But as weird as it sounds, I am totally energized by it! I’m feeling pretty tough right now after figuring out a few things today that for awhile there I really thought I’d never figure out on my own. yay for me! haha.

Ok, time for bed.

saturday night @ the hemlock

Saturday night was so fun! We went to Jessica’s house party, and then to Bigfoot for a drink – because 3/4 of us had never been and as soon as I heard about the lighting the bar on fire to Def Leppard, we had to go! – before finishing off the night with a bang at the Hemlock.

I was stoked because not only were my awesome friends Ali & Ryan with me, but I got to meet and hang out w/ Ali’s friend Zach who is visiting (and is super fun & nice). And THEN the whole Cameron, Megan, Day & Mario crew showed up and THEN Misty surprised us & showed up too! YAY!! SO FUN!!

*sigh* I love my friends.

The good news is even though I was pretty tipsy by the time I left, I only had a little bit of a headache this morning. phew! :) And with a little coffee, some advil & breakfast, I was feeling 100%. Yay! My efforts to take it easy there at the end & call it a night so that I was “functional” today worked, because I actually got a TON of done! I’m making major progress on this CSS layout project and am feeling really excited about it. I even read more of Zeldman’s Designing with Web Standards at the gym and had a kick ass workout! woohooo!

Tonite I went over to Matt’s for a yummy dinner & a few of us watched Six Feet Under, Season 5, Disc 3! SO GOOD! I’m going to be sad when this season is over… cuz it’s the last one! Anyway, overall it was such a great productive, super fun weekend. Hope yours was, too!

Oh & p.s. there’s a few more crazy photos from the Hemlock/Misty’s camera posted here.

UPDATE! More photos from Ali’s camera are here!

SO CUTE!!

Lastnight I went up to Marin to visit my good friend Elana & her kiddos, Marissa & Zach. We met in the park across the street from their house & lil’ Marissa was sweet enough to model the To Hell With Straight Hair little girl’s tees with all her fabulous curls! She was an absolute natural – what a button!!

Check out a few of her in each color that I just posted on Flickr. The lighting was tough, since the sun was setting, but I still think we got some absolutely adorable shots. :) yay! Thanks Mari!

Afterwards we ordered chinese & had dinner @ their house. Then, once the kids were in bed, Elana & I got to enjoy a few glasses of wine & catch up. I left around 11:30 & was in bed by 12:30 or so. A very nice Friday night indeed.

video podcasts

Do any of you watch the Lynch Land Podcasts? I subscribed one lonely night & now every once & awhile my iTunes will start playing them. They’re nice & WEIRD. :) Mostly because Liam Lynch is a creative madman, and well, that’s just RAD. So anyway, this post is to tell you about the latest one, Lynchland Episode #7 (iTunes link), because at the beginning there’s a lot of Dave Grohl kicking ass on the drums. (JohnnyP, you’ll dig it)

I also have been watching the Jack Black Nacho Libre Confessional, which is a tad hit or miss in terms of laugh out loud funny… but I love that man and it’s entertaining. :)

Some other Podcasts I randomly subscribe to (all iTunes links, FYI):

Do you have any favorites I should know about?

shop for mom

If you’re like me, you want to get your momma something unique. No better place to do it than at the Mother’s Day Boutique & Trunk Show this Saturday, May 6th, @ Bottom of the Hill! Another great opportunity to drink while you shop. ha! But seriously, great DJ’s and super great crafty merch. Way worth checking out if you live in SF. Oh, and a lot of the merchants are a part of the SFCraftMafia, too!

Another fun one I just discovered is the CorrieWeb Store! This awesome lady & I became “internet friends” probably over 6 years ago, but at the time she wasn’t doing many sales overseas (she lives in Holland). But she just emailed me the other day with her new links, and her online store is chock full of super cute stuff for Mother’s Day! Her long legged animals characters, like the mommy/baby cows, are soo cute… and you know I love the kitties! The “itty bitty knitty kitty” is one I think all my knitting friends would like… Lucia? I think my little sis might like some of the horsie stuff, too. Haylie take a look! And lastly, you have to see these cute bunnies in the space carrot – hehe! Corrie’s style is adorable and I’m so inspired by how many different designs she keeps crankin out. Awesome, woman! (p.s. how cute is it that she lives in a town called Sneek? Gemeente Sneek! I need to go visit just so I can hear them say this.)

So, what are you getting your Momma for Mother’s day?

hard drive is dying AGAIN

I’ve been having some major problems with my powerbook here lately. What has seemed to be more core issues, that are slowing down the OS X more than anything, making things freeze up for no reason, (insert more annoying issues that effect productivity). So, I’ve worked extensively over the last few weeks font pruning, trashing preferences, clearing out misc. stuff from my startup menu, running disk repairs, macjanitor, restarting every day, sometimes 2x/day, etc… all to no avail.

So lastnight I backed up & just now before restarting, I thought I’d run a Disk Utility Repair, and check out what it’s telling me:

lovely

For those of you who’ve been reading, even if only for only a mere couple months, you may recall I *just* had the hard drive replaced in February! arg!

Looks like I’ll be needing to send this puppy away again. I *so* need a backup powerbook for when this happens! Who woulda thunk it’d happen again only 3 MONTHS later? JEESHK!

:::::

UPDATE: Apple is sending a box out to come & get it. And my awesome friend Mario is letting me borrow a Mac Mini for the time being. However, I do think I’ll take his advice & swing by the Apple store today & see if they won’t just hand me a new MacBook Pro. Hell, I’d even take the latest Powerbook they have laying around! Anything to get rid of this lemon! I’ve had way too many problems in the short 2 years with this damn thing. arg!

Anyway… enough ranting. I’m so behind on work (I’m on my PC now, while I update the software & install my backup on the mac mini), that this time suck is the last thing I need. *sigh*

Thanks for all your feedback & support guys!
