My Favorite Rdio Playlist at the Moment
I’m so in love with this playlist right now (thanks Malthe Sigurdsson!):
Are you on Rdio yet? If not, you must go check it out right now. It’s simply THE BEST.
Here’s my Rdio profile.
What is Rdio?
It’s a badass music service that basically makes it so that you never have to sync your music to your phone or your iPod ever again. Right now I have access to my entire music collection* from anywhere – both on my iPhone and from the web or their app on any computer – and I can add new music to my collection at any time. You can connect to your friends who are also on Rdio, and see what they’re listening to and adding to their collections, and the BEST part is you can make playlists, and subscribe to other’s playlists (like the one above), and see what playlists your friend’s are subscribing to. They even have it so you can collaborate on creating playlists with others, too!
*My entire music collection is well over 1000+ CDs, and doesn’t even fit on my main harddrive, I keep it on an external drive. Rdio has most of them, minus a few super small/independent artists that are hard to find and/or aren’t on a record label.
Lucky for me I happen to have friends with fabulous taste in music, so my subscription to Rdio keeps me up-to-date on hot new bands, new releases and has filled my collection with some awesome classics, too. A number of my friends curate monthly mixes, so having access to those on Rdio (vs something I have to download to my computer, import into iTunes and then sync to my mobile) has been priceless.
One of my other favorite playlists is this Soul/Motown playlist. Funnily enough I don’t know Malthe or Zane. I must have just seen one of my friends subscribe to their playlist, and after checking it out, subscribed myself. I love the social connecting/discovery piece there, and they’ve done it really well. It’s designed beautifully, and the activity isn’t too busy or noisy.
Out of my own playlists, my favorite is one my friend Ted of BAGeL Radio put together for me, titled accordingly: Thanks BAGeL Radio! Through that playlist, he turned me on to a bunch of new bands that I love now: Front Bottoms, Little Dragon, Blood Orange, Still Corners and more.
All of this is only $9.99/mo! Totally, totally worth every single penny. I <3 Rdio!
