FAQ

Wait, why do you have to move out of your apartment?!

I know, we all thought I’d live in the Cozy Cottage forever, right? Yup… it’s served me well for exactly 11(!) wonderful years.

Unfortunately, a neighbor reported my unit as an illegal unit (which it is, technically), and now the city is forcing my landlords to demolish my kitchen, and turn it into a single-family home. :|

Holy sh*t!

Right? It’s a bummer, but I am choosing to see this as a swift kick out of a very comfortable nest.

While my place has been amazing, and I probably could have easily stayed there for another 11 years, I am taking this as a sign there is more out there for me. It’s odd how, while sad, it actually feels pretty OK.

Are you moving away from SF?

No, but I’m not renting another place here right away either. (If you’re aware of the housing market in SF, you’ll get why this doesn’t make much sense; it’s through the roof right now).

I’ll be in SF through the summer, and then may work from various cities/states/countries after that. Change is afoot, but don’t worry… I’m here, and my heart (as well as my snail mail, a bit of storage, and my sweet kitty) will always be in San Francisco.

What about your clients?

The awesome thing about my coaching/consulting business is I can work from anywhere! I have clients in Paris, Melbourne, and all over the US, and I have various teams that work across the country, too. We do business over email, phone, Skype/Google Hangouts, etc, and it all works beautifully. So, in short: business as usual!

My office hours may be slightly different, depending on where I am, but I’m not worried about that at all. I’ll still be very accessible, and able to work/take on new work wherever I am.

I’ll maintain an address here, so for now I’m still based in SF and able to travel anywhere for work & opportunities; aka “Location Independent Entrepreneur” (what the cool kids are calling it these days).

What about Kazoo?

This is definitely the toughest part about not going straight into another home. I need to find a place for my sweet kitty to stay. I am not giving him away, per se, but I need to find a stable home for him for at least 6 months; maybe longer if it’s the right situation.

Know any kitty lovers who would be willing to help us out?

UPDATE: A friend is taking him for the next few months! <3

What are you doing with all your stuff?

I’m taking this as an opportunity to clear the decks. I’m a big fan of decluttering, and while my furniture and *stuff* has served me well… I’m totally open to a new, clean slate! Therefore I will be selling most all of my furniture, and keeping mementos and a few other things in storage.  Here’s what’s left: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/fuo/4473686520.html

Wow, this is awesome. How can I live vicariously through you?

How can I help?

I have put this page together and send it to you, because I really do need your support through this. Thank you in advance!

Here’s my plan, and what I need help with:

If you have any leads/offers/suggestions, please email me or call/text me: 415-505-5507

Thank you in advance for your love & support!

I have had a very stable life here in SF. 18 years total, and 11 years in the Cozy Cottage officially makes this city, and this place, the longest I’ve lived anywhere in my life.

This is a big change, obviously… and feels like the biggest leap I’ve made since packing up my car at age 20 and driving out to California. I’m very excited, and ready for it, but having you “with me” – celebrating and reaching out to offer up your guidance/wisdom/love/homes, etc – is greatly appreciated.

I am so grateful to have such a badass community of friends to reach out to!
Thank you x a million.
