colorado recapitated

I still have to recap about our AWESOME AWESOME weekend in Colorado.

It was sooo much fun it neared on the edge of blissful. Awesome, huh?

My sweetie & I celebrated our *official* 1 year Anniversary. (The first kiss) :) So Saturday night was my friend’s wedding & reception, and it made it a very fun night for the two of us. My sweetie is soo awesome!!

I can’t wait to see all the photos of the weekend. I have yet to download them to my computer yet! I’ve been pretty slammed with work this week. Going out of town will do that to me when I’m used to working on the weekends, let alone missing Friday! But I’m catching up now

Ok – anyway – I am not going to write all this out now – I just had to say that I will update with a reCAP aSAP. As soon as I get some sleep, then get some more work done! :)

geek question #587

I’ve been playing Mrs. Miss Question Answerer to my little sister, Haley Haylie and her pal Joe, who I met while I was visiting them in Jacksonville, FL (photos).

It’s a tad time consuming here and there, and I have to draw my boundries or I could turn into a FT HTML instructor via IM. But overall it’s fun and it honestly makes me realize how much there is to know!

This week I’ve been having MAJOR issues w/ my mac. First of all, I messed up the keyboard. Don’t ask me how – it’s kinda embarrassing, but let’s just say I am crossing my fingers that AppleCare fixes it. But it still works.. just missing a few keys & things. :/

Another slightly annoying problem is that my mac crashed at least 7 times today!!! Totally froze up!! And every once and awhile on restart, I’ll get the gray screen as soon as I start it up!

I got new RAM a bit ago (upgraded to 1GB), but it wasn’t working so hot when I first intalled it. So I took one out so that I could test which one is faulty. Well obviously this one’s not doing too well. But thing is, I also didn’t reset the PRAM after I took the 2nd one out.. do you think that makes a huge difference?

Any feedback is helpful.

:::

While I’m talking about crashing, let’s discuss my Dreamweaver MX 04 that alone crashed like 6 times toNITE! And not just any crashes – every time it seems to wipe out code on my pages. Literally it tears out code to where even if I saved the file, it actually mildly corrupts them! I had to start pushing them up to the server just to have a saved copy w/o having to go back and redo my last 5 steps (even though I saved! >:|

There are some things I really like about DWMX04 – and other things, like hech hemm… *STABILITY*, that drive me crazy! While I’m at it: It needs to have the ability to save your panel layouts, too!

Oh, and I hate it in Fireworks MX04 the panels on the right won’t close and keep the other one’s open w/o changing the height of the whole panel (which is probably why I closed one in the first place, because I wanted to see the other one more).

Sorry, this probably makes no sense… I’ll be lucky if even ONE of you knows what I’m talking about, but I just had to vent. Macromedia’s products for Mac are suprisingly bad.

::::

Ok, while I’m talking geek. I’ve decided I want a higher resolution monitor. I neeeeeed one. (slaps wrist & cries for more!) Yup. I’m addicted to apple.

My friend Eric just got one of these and I think my feelings would best be described by reciting the line spoken by (the blond, I can’t remember her name*) on “Not Necessarily the News” (1985), when I say “Luuuuuuuucky!!!”

*If anyone has more details on this reference, let me know. I haven’t thought about that show in forever – remember Sniglets started there?

I loved Fraggle Rock, too. I loved having HBO! It was a lifesaver because I was home a lot watching TV by myself as a kid.

::::

I had some more geeky things to talk about, but I can’t remember what they are. Night

melting ice cream

Tonite I realized I’d come straight home, set down the groceries, snuggled the bejeezus out of my cute fuzzy wuzzy kitty, sat down and started working and didn’t realize I hadn’t put away the groceries till I walked in the kitchen an hour & 1/2 later!

So naturally I put the stuff away and I just gone done “testing” – making sure the ice cream isn’t too frostbit. And it’s not one bit. If anything it’s a tad soft still so it made it the most. perfect. ice cream. treat. ever!!

Well, it all might have to do with it being the most delicious ice cream… the Ben & Jerry’s One Sweet Whirled. It’s amazing!

I also bought these little bite size cookies that are “rocky road”. mmm!

oh, oh, oh… i’m on fire.

I’ll start simple. First of all, I’m LOVING The Concretes. And my friend Ted gave me The Arcade Fire & I’m loving it, too!!

I could list out about 10 bands I’m totally digging, but I’ll do that another day.

::::::::

What’s on my mind:

I wanna CREATE!!!!! I want this to do list to widdle down somehow magically so that I have time. But that’s a CRAP excuse because really I need to powerhouse through it all & then MAKE. TIME. for MORE extra curricular activities. You know, cuz running my own business, taking drumming lessons, taking care of my life (laundry, dishes, etc), going to live shows, having a boyfriend and a social life isn’t enough! :) Well, it is… but I will tell you what. My creative side is really having a FIT. Just getting it off my chest thats all.

I need to redesign my site something FIERCE. Fierce like “RAAAAAAAARRRRR!!!!!!” Big roar that blows your hair back. My portfolio is sooooooooooooooooooooo outdated it’s just pitiful. I can’t wait, but alas, it’s at the bottom of the to do list. Everything in due time I suppose.

So ch-check it – This weekend we’re heading to Colorado!!! I’m soo excited. Rick & I fly out Friday for my friend’s wedding in Denver. Michelle & Aaron are getting married and I couldn’t be happier for them. Michelle is a close friend of mine from High School, and the day we *officially* met was in Mrs. Conlon’s English class. We got assigned on a in-class paper together, but in the first 20 minutes she had me laughing so hard I was crying! Needless to say Mrs. Conlon wasn’t very happy, and we’ve been friends ever since. :) She’s hilarious and awesome and this weekend I get to watch her get married to a guy that’s madly in love with all that she is. I’m sooo excited!!!!!

Total bonus about any time I get to go back to Denver is I also get to see my best friend Drew and his wife JaNae and their cutie little girl Sydney.

Drew has been my best friend for as long as I can remember and officially holds the title for “Longest Standing Male Figure In My Life”. We’ve had many ups & downs over the years (which is easy when you’ve known someone for the majority of your life (~27 years!), but I love him DEARLY!! He’s a friend that has known me through thick and thin and no matter how much time has gone by, we pick up like we just saw eachother yesterday.

Drew & I met in pre-school when he was proudly sporting a bath towel SuperMan cape that gave him powers to jump off the highest 4 foot high place he could find and yell, “SuperMan!”. We even lived next door to eachother for a few years! He’s the boy next door!

He’s one of the most important people in my life and I am SOO excited to see him and introduce Rick to him and vis versa! Very exciting.

Should be a pretty wild weekend though… between Friday night on the town w/ Drew and JaNae – and then the wedding on Saturday, we’re puttin on our party hats and dancing shoes. I can’t wait!

THEN! No sooner do we get back on Sunday afternoon, but Sunday night we have Eagles of Death Metal at Cafe Du Nord! I’m sooo psyched on this show! AND I get to meet THE Kat Crippler of Slutschool fame!!!!! And those of you who don’t know Slutschool… I’m sorry to say it has died. BUT the Crippler lives on and she’s flying all the way here from Canada and will be here in the flesh to drink us under the table! I can’t wait! (except nobody can drink us under the table, so we’re in for a kick ass night :) woohooo!!!

I think I never told you about The Libertines show – so I’ll paste in what I said somewhere else:

How do you replace a lead singer!? (For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, read this)

It sucks when you know 2 albums with one voice and then you see em live w/ another – definitely wasn’t the same – BUT it didn’t suck. It was awesome to hear all my favorite songs live!!

It was a great show & a great group of friends came along including Jem, Lyne, Kristin & Dave and Ted & Misty! A great crew, but my favorite show buddy and fellow Libertines lover sweetie was missed (but he was in tahoe gambling and partyin it up, so he was havin fun :)

OH & the Libertines had a fantastic drummer!!!

Cool to see Radio 4, too – although I agreed w/ Ted that it was an odd pairing. They’d be better suited to play w/ the Rapture – or something. I’m not sure the crowd could appreciate all the bongo/precussion going on – but I did! I just wished the audience was more into em than they seemed – but Radio 4 wasn’t phased – they had great energy. If I saw them again, I’d rather it be a smaller venue w/ a more raucous crowd.

Ok, It’s late & I must sleep!! ‘night all…

Firefox users…

Hey – if any of you are using Firefox, make sure you have the latest version! And be sure to read their info about uninstalling/deleting your current version before installing the new.

Tonite I was doing some pop up windows & I was annoyed and surprised that Firefox wasn’t listening to the window properties left= and top=… so when I went to look for it in the known bugs on the Mozilla site, it suggested to first make sure you have the latest version.

Oddly enough when I went into my Firefox & asked it to check for an update, it didn’t find one – which I was relying on, until now. So I deleted my old (aka uninstall for you PC users) and installed the new version .10 and now the location properties are working! woohoo!

Also I think it might have fixed that annoying glink problem I was having! yay!!

couchless

Can you believe, I still don’t have a couch!?

Remember how I had that big couch meltdown? Well, soon after I left for Florida, and then I came back to quarterly taxes, a heap of work to catch up on and a cold! And alas, still no couch.

I sure wish I had the $1200 to just go out & buy a new one, but I don’t… so Craigslist will probably be my ticket to a new couch, but that takes time and work. And no, I will not resort to a cheap one from IKEA. I got rid of my last one because it was uncomfortable, I’m not getting another uncomfortable couch! Anyway, hopefully I’ll make time to look a little this week and if I’m lucky I’ll be hauling a new one in next weekend! Cross your fingers! :)

Luckily I’m not much of a couch person. Hilariously there’s only been a *small* handful of times in the last month I’ve even thought about sitting on it & wished I had one. The only downside of this is I’ll bet my TIVO is deleting lots of great stuff simply because I haven’t even turned on the TV to see what it’s been recording in probably over a month!

Anyway – I just thought it might be funny to those of you who are regular readers: I still don’t have a couch! haha

This is right up there w/ my wanting to sell my car. I’ll post it, it’ll get a few bites and then the posting will expire and I’ll forget to repost it and weeks and months go by and I still have this same car. It’s a good car, mind you. Just a bit expensive to fuel – which is really the whole point. That & a smaller car might cost less on insurance, too. It’s an environmental/money saving decision, but obviously one not drastic enough to make me get my booty in gear to make it happen.

I’ve been thinking about taking it over to the Buggy Bank in the E. Bay, but then I’d be carless. And I could do this, with the exception of having to get out to the sunset 1x/week… but I’m fairly reliant on my car right now. So I’d have to really bite the bullet if I decided it was worth it. And it certainly would be worth it if I sold it within a couple weeks & then had all that money to buy a new car! But there again, if I’m looking on CL for my new car, it’d be handy to be able to drive to all the different locations to look at the cars! Quite the clusterf*k, huh?

Honestly, I wish I could just hire someone to do all this kind of stuff for me. It’s so time consuming! Granted a boyfriend with a car would help that 2nd one out :) But my sweet carless boyfriend *will* be helping move the couch. Thank goodness!

gaawwd!!

Safari (mac browser) is sooo retarded! Does anyone else find it horribly slow!?!?!? I mean, I like the browser and I actually don’t mind using it for the most part – but when it takes so long to respond sometimes – especially on forms! – and it constantly gives me the spinny wheel… it’s soo annoying!!

Yes, I use Firefox – and that’s not as slow, but it is at times, too. I think this is a bit of a RAM issue because right now I do have a ton of highly intensive programs open… but I also just upped my RAM to 1GB!! so you’d think that would have taken care of it! (I’m in Firefox right now and in the course of creating this post I have probably gotten the spinny ball atleast 8 times. ARG.)

Anyway, since my neighbors just heard me cuss out Safari, I thought I’d share the rant with you, too.

:::::

While I’m bitching about browsers and forms, can I just commiserate with other Blogger users out there, “Isn’t it so annoying that Blogger hasn’t fixed that whole glink image gif problem (that happens when you create a link using their widget)?” FIX IT ALREADY BLOGGER! JEESHk!!
