birthday weekend fabulousness!

Wow, what a completely fabulous few days celebrating my birthday!

Thursday night Hams was in town, so we met him & a few other friends at the Hemlock and enjoyed a few cold beers on a hot night. I hadn’t even really wanted to go out that night for whatever reason (although of COURSE I wanted to see hams), but was glad I did. I actually thought I’d just go for a beer or two & slip out around 11 or 11:30, but (so sweet) my friends were like “you’re not going anywhere, your bday is in 27 minutes!” haha. Ok, twist my arm.

me & cutie hams!
Then, just when we thought SF couldn’t get any hotter, Friday was super super hott! I woke up feeling great and greeted by a number of lovely texts, comments & emails… aww heart! Then, got ready & headed down to South Park where I had an awesome birthday lunch with Hillary & Tara. Yay… love those girls!

Then, that evening, my BFF girls took me out for my birthday dinner at Andalu. So yummy! And wow, look at this photo… aren’t all my fabulous girlfriends soooo pretty!? Love you ladies soo much! xoxo

birthday dinner!
So, all this time, little did I know my last minute plan to have drinks with a few friends at the Kilowatt afterwards had been secretly USURPED! While we were at dinner, Aubrey said she’d left her card at the 500 Club the night before, and asked if we could all go by there to get it before Kilowatt. Since we had time & it was only a block away (and gorgeous weather), I was like “ok, sure.”

So we get there & I even said, “So we’ll just wait out here (outside)?” And she goes, “Oh, no, just come in for a bit.” Oh aaallright. :) So we walk in & I see this whole booth full of people with newspapers over their faces (I wish I had a photo of that!). And the first thing I think is it must be one of those Improv Everywhere stunts, and they just happened to have chosen this bar right at this moment… haha!

So we walk in & apparently the first thing that happened – Ryan had to remind me of this because it all happened so fast – was Ryan was standing in front of me & I go, “what are you doing here?” haha! and he goes, “um, surprise?” and I go “what!!?” and everyone yells “SURPRISE!!” and the newspapers come down & it was all my friends!! HAHA!! SO AWESOME!!! I had no idea!!

It totally took me awhile to even figure out what had just happened. I mean, um hello!? weren’t we supposed to be over at the Kilowatt right now!? ak! haha! It was incredible. A ton of great friends stopped by throughout the night & it was such a blast!

Thanks to all who strolled down Linden & stopped by the WilloToons booth yesterday! It was a beautiful day out. One of those where there’s just enough cloud cover to not get to too hot, but sufficiently sunburn your nose… which I have proof of. :)

The wind picked up, as per usual, near the end of the day, but I was SO grateful I had learned my lesson last year (my garment rack had fell over about 50 times) and this year rented sandbags to weigh it down. Totally worked! Still, for next time I need to remember to bring some pretty smooth black stones as weights on the display items on the table so we don’t have to go chasing business/postcards cards that get swept up & away.

As always, a big gigantic thanks to Sean for letting me borrow his jeep & to my helper gals (aka hotty booth babes) Kim & Ali! I love you girls! Also a big thanks to my pal Damian who stuck around with me on Saturday & helped me prepare. Yay! Sometimes I feel like I’m so on my own doing all this, but all of you make me feel so supported, it means so much to me!

Coworking @ Citizen Space

Citizen Space – San Francisco, CA, originally uploaded by hyku.

My awesome friend Ryan McMinn is in town, so Friday morning we went for brunch at Zazie & then headed down to Citizen Space to do a little work. It was my first time there & I actually got a ton done!

I’ve found I really need to get out & work with others more… it helps fill the social aspect for me in the background, so my work is more in the foreground & gets done! Good stuff.
