upcoming shows

I’ve just updated the Upcoming Shows/Events list on the left. There are SOO many great shows coming up it’s CRAZY!!!

I’m soooo psyched to see Grandaddy and Super Furry Animals play this Thursday night – as well I heard Rogue Wave might be playing a set in the lounge (update: they had to head to Portland for a show – Josh Fix & the Furious Force played instead = pretty good actually). The whole night is gonna be soo sweet!

Next week I am FINALLY going to see my favorite band of 2003: Hot, Hot Heat!! Do you know how FREAKIN PSYCHED I will be in that audience!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!!? I can hardly contain myself thinking about it. *HUGE GRIN!!!!!!* PLUS, added bonus is the French Kicks are opening – who also have been rockin my world. Brendan turned me onto them and I’m loving them and can’t wait to see them live. I feel like I’ve been really really good or something and I’m getting rewarded with all these wonderful bands coming to play. hahhaa Thank you awesome bands for coming here & SLAYING me with your kick ass talent!!!!

update: Next week is also Radiohead – Holy Sh*t, I’m going to see 4 of my favorite bands in one week!!!!!

Ok – that’s about all the effusiveness I can muster w/o some caffeine in my bloodstream. Later…

fun filled weekend

I only have a minute, but wanted to post photos from the weekend!

Friday night we went out for drinkies for Jee & Kat’s bday – here’s a few photos.

Saturday Jane, Kevin & I headed down to Moss Beach for a Sandcastle making party! Jish invited us & has photos up too. (update: more photos taken by kristin!) It was such an amazingly warm and beautiful day – and it was so much fun!

I also finally posted photos from Jane’s Grill & Swill w/ her Mom.

Ok – I’m off to Marin for dinner w/ friends!

out of all the things that happened today…

– a great friday phone meeting with my talented & creative business woman friends

– a trip to the coffee shop for an iced coffee (cuz it’s sooo frickin hot here lately!!!)

– a day with my friend Trina for painting (!) Look!

– a scurried rush home to get ready to go out for Jee & Kat’s birthday soiree (and the many darling friends of mine who joined us!)

– my quick bite and entertaining conversation with the cute Algerian/Parisian boy at Crepes-a-Go-Go… and my outright No to his request to take me to dinner sometime (which as handsome as he was he obviously wasn’t used to that response!)

– a friend of Jee’s crashing on her bike and having to get an ambulance to the hospital (!!!)

– and then (of course less dramatic, but not to my water soaked cat), my getting home and spilling my entire glass of water all over the floor

….. out of ALL of that….. the saddest, most alarming news of my day is that I just realized John Ritter died. :(

When I was in the coffee shop getting my iced coffee (see activity #2 of the day) I could have sworn that’s what I heard said on the radio in the coffee shop. And I even asked the girl “Did you hear that?!” and she flippantly said, “Ya, I think they said you could win something.” … so I thought, ya, of course… He’s too young. But I could have sworn I heard it – the unbelievable truth that John Ritter had died.

I know so many amazing personalities have left this world lately that I haven’t posted about here…. but personally I grew up on the cheesy puns and sexual innuendos of Three’s Company. Not to mention I personally met and chatted with THE John Ritter when I was about 15, in my hometown of Steamboat, Colorado. He was at our public pool trying to arrange for a private pool party when we came in for a swim on a slow weekday afternoon one summer.

Anyway… I can’t believe it’s true. I thought I had heard it wrong. He was so young.

Good thoughts to Jee’s friend who went to the hospital tonite too… I hope her knee’s ok – apparently it got pretty messed up in the bike fall. Who knows how much she had drank (as everyone thought she seemed pretty sober). All I know is I have a scar from College to prove alcohol and biking don’t mix.

I’m not sure what else to say as it’s 2am and I’m ready for bed. But I will say that I LOVE LOVE LOVED painting today – even though a bit of it was such a struggle with myself and my own abilities. I have great respect for those who paint!!!

Tomorrow I tackle drawing!! About 4 of us are taking a live model drawing drop-in class. Woohoo!! Then I’m going sandcastle making!! wooo-eee!!

Only because I feel like here I’ve talked about such enjoyable life events & the sadness of death do I feel like I need to wrap this up somehow delicately. But I tried that… and what I wrote doesn’t sound profound or amazing – it just sounds like I’m trying to wrap it up delicately.

Goodnight.

man oh man is it hot today!!!

all of a sudden the afternoon sun started beaming through my windows and I’m burning up.

I’m SOOO excited though, because I just got done playing around with my NEW Fisheye lens!!! WAHOOO!!!!!!! I’m soooo freakin excited. That’s probably why I’ve just worked up a sweat a little cuz I’ve been cruising around my house taking photos of everything from every angle. I went outside on the porch for a minute too and that’s when I really realized the heat. I promised myself I’d go to the beach on the next day like this, but this one snuck up on me! It’s amazing out!

Anyway – kick ass photos from my new Fisheye to be posted soon – wahoo!!

cd’s

I just got a ton of new music. And I attempted to organize my CD’s tonite. As I said, it’s an absolute CD explosion in my living room right now. I’m gonna invent something to fix this problem!

Speaking of new music – I think my new favorite CD is Stephen Malkmus*. I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never listened to Pavement, so that whole part of him is news to me. His CD was just randomly given to me and I didn’t know what it was going to be like. I really like it – and I’m lucky to have friends that give me new music!! :)

I’ve also become a pretty big fan of Rainer Maria… they’re coming to town soon! So many good shows coming up…

* and Spoon. I’m loving them, too.

update

oh – and you have to see the great photos Matt took Friday night. We had a bit of a photo taking extravaganza where everyone else passed us up on the way to Casanova and we stopped and compared our shots of everything for about 2 blocks. He has a Canon Elph – and everyone I know who has one of those is so happy with it… The little thing takes awesome photos. I just kept getting frustrated that my camera wasn’t taking as awesome point & shoot shots as his. Maybe it’s my settings? Either way, I need to buy one to have a smaller camera to take out & about and not have to worry about my expensive baby.
